Basic Overview
Adam James served as the Pacifica's Assistant Chief Security and Tactial Officer under the command of Lieutenant Akaris Venn from 2378 to 2379. Adam James was played by Stephen Higgins who during his time on the Pacifica grew to become one of the most active and well respected members to ever take part in the simulation.

Description:
Adam is of tall medium build with black hair and blue eyes. He is considered fairly good looking with a good head of hair which grows long down the upper part of his back. He has a two inch scar on his left cheek a reminder of when he encountered with a renegade Klingon thankfully for adam his reflexes saved him from anything worse. During a fight in 2378 he injured his left hand but this was healed by the medics on the USS Pacifica just leaving him with a minor scar on his left palm.
Personality & Traits
General Overview: Being a Betazoid Adam is empathic, that being said he would be the first admit that his empathic abilities are not the best that his race have ever produced. He can pick up basic emotions but for him they need to be strong for him to detect ,thankfully for him he appears to have good technical skills and these helped him shine in his youth. Whilst he was not necessarily on the same wavelength as other Betazoid children his other skills were identified early on in his life, so he was considered talented albeit in other areas from most Betazoids. With most other Betazoid children having stronger empathic skills they were aware of potentially hostile situations far ahead of Adam as such early on in life that he found that whilst other betazoid children would hastily remove themselves from a hostile situation he did not seem to have the same early warning system they had. As such he needed to be able to protect himself and proved to be an accomplished pugilist, that being said Adam is not an aggressive individual as such, indeed he is often considered somewhat placid but at times of potential hostility he can swing into action almost without thinking. Some people might question the mood swings he has as such times but they are generally caused by the best of intentions. Adam has a wry sense of humor which some people find not to their taste, but he generally gets along with most people. Generally he is considered helpful and if called upon often goes out of his way to help a colleague, that being said occasionally he does go into dark moods for a while but usually snaps out of them after a few days or if called upon at times of need.

History
Whilst Betazoid's are often considered as conselors or diplomatic staff Adam's parents Malor and Kalrina were traders running a cargo ship. They preferred to roam the galaxy in as much as a small cargo ship could and therefore Ddam grew up seeing a variety of different worlds and learning to live on a starship which was a good grounding for his Starfleet future. As second son his desire to join starfleet was not as much of a disappointment for his parents as it would have been if he had been the first born. His eldest brother is content to continue life as a trader and is being groomed to take over the family business but Adam felt called to serve something greater the Federation.
During his time before he joined the Academy Adam was considered as well skilled in the art of pugilism despite this being something which his race did not generally excel sometimes though it was needed especially if someone the family was dealing with decided to renege on a deal. During his time on board his Parent's cargo ship, he learned from his Encle Joseph a younger brother of his father who was part of the cargo ship's crew. Joseph had spent a time at Starfleet passing through the Academy and then spending time aboard the USS Sutherland and USS Pegasus as a junior engineering officer. Joseph seemed to have a knack for shielding technology and left, moving to the Utopia Planetia Shipyards, where he spent two years helping develop advanced shielding. Ultimately he found that he preferred life shipboard and Starfleet preferred to utilize his skills in the shipyards, so eventually he decided to leave and return to the family business. His shielding skills have helped the family cargo business out on many occasions when they have run across pirates. Adam takes after his Uncle in that he also seems to have a knack for shielding technology but also has a similar understanding of starships weaponry sadly on a cargo ship with their limited firepower the latter is of limited use and therefore he has sought to utilize his skills to the common good in joining Starfleet.
Adam joined the Academy and whilst he generally gets on well there were occasions where he got into trouble in the academy, when he breached their rules of conduct. That being said on each occasion he was defending other cadets and was exonerated, albeit that it did not create a favorable record. Despite this he passed through earning reasonably good marks across the board with the exception of those tests relating to weaponry and shields where he came top of his class. Whilst not enough to make him top of his class overall he still performed well and was in the top 20 of his class. After graduation he joined the USS Excelsior as a junior tactical officer for two years serving in a number of minor engagements. During this period he formed a friendship with the Chief Engineer aboard with whom he helped to fine-tune their shields. His tour of duty on the USS Excelsior has finished and he is currently looking forward to his next assignment from Starfleet.
