History

Childhood & Early Life

Buzz was born on Earth but grew up and spent most of his early years in space as both of his parents served on the USS Georgia which was an Excelsior Class starship. Buzz grew accustom to life in space very quickly, but he always looked forward to visiting his relatives on Earth, which he considered to be his second home. When he was not causing mischief like most children do, he was concentrating on his studies as he wanted to follow in the foot steps of his parents and one day join and serve Starfleet.

Starfleet Academy

When he finally got his chance to join Star Fleet Academy he quickly jumped at it and passed the entrance exam without too much difficulties. Once he was at the Academy, he concentrated on piloting and navigation courses as he had always had a love for piloting. He also did a number of courses in command training and basic engineering as well.

Starfleet Career

Early Career

Once he had gradated from the Academy Buzz was assigned to the USS Discovery as a helmsman. He settled into life on the small science ship quite quickly and it wasn't long before he become the ship's Chief Flight Control Officer. He transferred to the Defiant Class USS John Glenn in 2375 and fell in love with the ship right away as it was unique ship that handled like a dream. He served on the John Glenn for three years in which time he also took on the added responsibility of serving as the vessel's Second Executive Officer. While he was content with his life on the John Glenn he started to think about making more of a move towards the area of command, as he was keen to advance his career. After being encouraged and recommended by his CO on the John Glenn Buzz started to look for a position as an Executive Officer.

First Officer USS Pacifica

He put in numerous applications on a number of different starships and he was finally accepted for the position on the USS Pacifica as the ship's Commanding Officer Commodore Daniel Butterworth liked his application. Buzz immediately transferred to the USS Pacifica and quickly settled into his new role as the ship's first officer. He served as Executive Officer on the Pacifica for just over three years and proved himself to be a valuable officer to the ship and his Commanding Officer. It was also during his time on the Pacifica that Buzz managed to show off his command abilities as he had successfully lead the Pacifica on a number of occasions in Commodore Butterworth's absence. The most notable of these occasions was when he managed to defuse a potentially volatile situation in the Archerian System Shattering Diplomacy.

In 2381 after leading his away team through difficult conditions on Pearen IV Commodore Butterworth put Polaris' name forward to Starfleet Command, requesting that he be assigned his own command. A couple of weeks following this Commander Polaris was named as the new captain of the USS Isis an Intrepid Class starship formly under the command of Captain Aaron Ross until his retirement, with his own command also came the promotion to the rank of Captain which would take affect on his arrival on the Isis. With the USS Isis docked at Starbase 275 for an extensive resupply and R&R, Buzz decided to remain on the Pacifica for a couple of more weeks helping the crew track down a Ferengi smuggler, while giving Commodore Butterworth time to find his new replacement.

Command of the Isis

His extended stay on the USS Pacifica ended up being cut short as the Isis had been rushed back on to active duty to search for a Starfleet vessel believed to of been involved with the Rikan Pirates. Before transferring to the Isis Buzz managed to have farewell drink with some of the Pacifica's crew and also managed to attend Lieutenant Francine Hart's award ceremony. Buzz proved his zeal for command early during his tenure on the Isis when he used his imitate knowledge of Defiant class starships to out maneuver and ultimately apprehend the pirate controlled USS Legion. Buzz and the Isis also played an important role during the final battle with the pirate organisation in the Carlina System.

In 2382 Buzz took his first Leave of Absence from the Isis to attend the wedding of two his former colleagues from the Pacifica Connie Morgan & Daniel Butterworth on Earth. On his way to the wedding he had a chance encounter with Connie's sister Kelly who was desperately seeking transport to Earth, which Buzz was able to provide. Late in 2382 Buzz aided his former Commanding Officer in searching for two crewmembers who had gone AWOL from the Pacifica before leading the Isis to the Archer System where his stopped a rogue asteroid from striking the Federation Colony in the system.

Background Information

Polaris was played by Evan Ottaway who before that played as Commander Evan Ottaway.
He is still an active member of the Pacifica's community as he is now playing as the Ship's Counselor Vanessa Baron after stepping down from the XO Position due to real life time issues.
Evan is one of the original members and is still a active player to this day.
