Introduction
The USS Pacifica searches for a Ferengi Starship that is involved with the Rikan pirates.
Summary
Shortly after the Pacifica's departure from the Pearen System Lieutenant Akaris Venn discovered that a ferengi vessel had approached the Pacifica while the crew were asleep in orbit around Pearen IV and remotely accessed the ship's computers. Lieutenant Venn quickly informed Commdore Butterworth of the matter and the Commodore immediately launched an investigation. It was quickly discovered that the Ferengi vessel had downloaded classified information, relating to the movements of the Pacifica's Task Group. Butterworth immediately ordered the Pacifica to begin a search for the Ferengi vessel and alerted nearby Federation ships and facilities to keep an eye out for a Ferengi Ship as they needed to recover the missing information before it fell into the wrong hands.
The Pacifica had been searching for close to twelve hours when they received a transmission from the USS Toronto who’s sensors had picked up a Ferengi vessel on course for the new colony in the Typhon System. Commodore Butterworth ordered the Pacifica to the Typhon System as Commander Buzz Polaris called the Typhon Shipping Authority and requested information on the Ferengi vessel which was scheduled to deliver cargo to the colony. Administrator Reed was happy to comply with the Pacifica's request and quickly transmitted the required information to the Pacifica over subspace. After reviewing the information listed on the Ferengi vessel the FMV Seeker it was determined by the crew that this was not the ship that they were looking for, but they decided to continue on to the Typhon Colony to see what they learn from the [[FMV Seekeer|Seeker and it's captain.
The Pacifica arrived in the Typhon System ahead of the Seeker and waited for the Ferengi vessel to arrive in orbit before hailing it. The hail was answered by the Ferengi Captain Bodmac who Commodore Butterworth engaged in friendly conversation with giving Lieutenant Marcus Cesarian time to discover the missing information in the Ferengi's databanks. Cesarian quickly forwarded this information to the Commodore who quickly confronted bodmac about it and demanded to know how he had acquired the information. Bodmac quickly gave up everything to the Pacifica explaining to them that he had brought the data off of a fellow Ferengi named Rahl near the neutral zone. The Ferengi captain also returned the stolen data to the Pacifica and provided them with all the information that he had on the other ferengi vessel.
With this new information in hand the Pacifica got underway to the last known position of the second Ferengi vessel and began what would be a almost four week game of cat and mouse between the two vessels. The Pacifica eventually lost track of the Rahl's ship for a few days, before it was eventually found again by the USS Clarendon and the USS Stingray, with Rahl 's vessel now found the three Starfleet vessels started to close in on Ferengi vessel. The USS Pacifica was the first to arrive on the scene and encountered the Ferengi ship near the Haakon Asteroid Belt. The Ferengi ship immediately opened fire upon the Pacifica and Butterworth responded in kind trading shots with Rahl's vessel. The Ferengi ship started to gain the upper hand after figuring out a way to penetrate the Pacifica's shields leaving Butterworth with little choice but to respond with a full salvo of quantum torpedoes causing massive damage to Rahl's ship.
Butterworth gave the order for Second Lieutenant Luke Evans and his Marines to board the Ferengi ship after it refused to respond to any of the Pacifica's hails. The marines set about securing the Ferengi, when suddenly an unmarked Defiant Class Starship appeared out of nowhere and attacked the Ferengi ship before warping out of the system revealing for the first time a possible Starfleet connection to the Rikan Pirates. This attack caused a massive containment leak in the Ferengi's warpcore leaving Butterworth with little choice but to beam the Ferengi survivors and the marines back onto the Pacifica moments before the Ferengi warpcore’s exploded. Surprised by the sudden turn in events Commodore Butterworth contacted Starfleet command about the issue and it was decided that the USS Isis would head the investigation into the possible starfleet connection with the pirates under the command of it's new captain Buzz Polaris.
