The USS Noble was an old Miranda Class starship that had been converted to a research vessel. The Noble had been in active service for over ten years since it had re-commissioned after being part of the mothball fleet for close to 15 years.
Disappearance and Destruction
In 2378 The Noble was conducting research activity along the Cardassian Border when the ship suddenly disappeared after being dispatched to investigate a newly discovered subspace rift. The Pacifica along with the USS Iowa successfully managed to recover the Noble, and were able to return the ship to Federation Space.
It was later discovered that during the events of the rescue that the Noble had became home to two energy lifeforms that were native to the subspace rift that the Noble had been investigating. With the rift now gone both of the lifeforms were trapped on the Noble with no way home, in a desperate bid to try and find a way home the lifeforms were able to influence Commander Buzz Polaris to commandeer the Noble and launch a attack on the USS Pacifica as they tried to escape with the Noble. The Noble was successfully retrieved by a small number of the Pacifica's crew. The Pacifica's crew were then able to successfully negoiate a deal with the lifeforms thanks to the efforts of Ensign Adam James. The crew were also able to devise a way to send the aliens back to their home and that involved sacrificing USS Noble by detonating the ship's warecore.
