Intergalactic Greetings from Your New XO!‏

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to drop you all a line to say a big hello to you all and to reintroduce myself to those of you who don’t really know me yet. As you all know from Daniel’s email yesterday I am taking on the Executive Officer position here on the Pacifica. Firstly I would like to say that I am eagerly looking forward to working with you all as we try to get the Pacifica back up and running again. For me personally it is a great honour to become the Pacifica’s 5th XO, as this group has been my first and one true simming home for well over six years and I hope that it is something that will continue for some time to come.

As our skipper pointed out, this wasn’t the first time that he had approached me in regards to the XO position as I have turned the offer on several previous occasions. I have though wanted to be more involved with the Pacifica but for the last couple of years there have been a number of hurdles that have stopped me from achieving that. The first hurdle which was a biggy I admit was just the plain old lack of time to sim properly. Much like it is for Daniel at the moment I went through a rather long patch of time where it was virtually impossible for me to find any real time to commit to the Pacifica. That I am happy to say though is no longer the case, as surprisingly to say a promotion at work has helped to significantly free up my schedule for stuff like simming.

The other factor behind my initial reluctance to take up the position was that I didn’t feel it was time to move my character to such a high position in the CoC. For those of you who know me pretty well would know that I sim solely for the character and not for the position, hence why I haven’t been promoted past Lieutenant in the past. To me it was important for my character to develop along a natural path and slowly work her way up the ranks as she grew as a person, which made bumping her to XO a slightly unattractive move. It was a issue that I was still iffy about until recently when I got together with Daniel and Connie to work out a decent and believable scenario that could cover my move up to XO. That is pretty how I got here and is the reason behind why I am currently listed as Acting XO on the manifest. For all intensive purposes from yesterday I become the Pacifica’s XO for all admin and OOC purposes my characters move to the position IC is going to take a while longer to progress and develop. Either Daniel or I will have more on that before posting officially gets underway again.

My goals as First Officer are pretty simple, but I would like to start by saying that I hope to be a more active and hands on XO then we’ve had in the past. This is not a easy task in itself as we have some fantastic people who have served as this Ship’s First Officer over the years and I have some rather large shoes to fill. I am confident that I am up for this task but I guess that only time will tell. As I am aiming to be a more active presence around you can expect to see and hear a lot more from me then you have in the past. It is my intention to make full use of the XO’s Office on the forums and you can also expect to see me take point position on a number of different things as I work to make life easier for Daniel and Connie around here.

This email has turned out to be a whole lot longer then I originally planned so I might end it here for now. I just hope that I haven’t forgot anything important that I wanted to say.
