The USS Crazy Horse NCC-50446 is an Excelsior Class refit vessel and is named after Chief Crazy Horse of the Oglala Sioux tribe from Earth who resisted American takeover of his people's lands in the 1870s. Crazy Horse was the last of the famed Excelsior Class starships to be built by the Federation ending a 50 plus year construction program.
In 2369 the Crazy Horse was mobilised as part of a fleet tasked with the defense of outlying Federation Colonies ahead of an anticipated second Borg invasion. The Crazy Horse underwent a major modernisation at the San Francisco Fleet Yards ahead of a feared Dominion invasion. During the war the Crazy Horse was tasked with protecting Vulcan and other key Federation Systems.
Connie Butterworth’s sister Kelly Morgan has been serving on the USS Crazy Horse as it’s Chief Medical Officer since 2382.
