History

Pre-Starfleet Academy History

Vanessa is the yonugest of two children to Commander George Baron a human Star Fleet Officer and to Rachel Wright a Betazoid. Her early life was very hectic as she experienced a lot of both her cultures and was often torn between her father who was serving in Starfleet and her mother who was still living on Betazed. She took very much after her mother and didn really take much to her fathers way of life. Despite her mothers constant nagging Vanessa did choose to follow the path of her father by enrolling in Star Fleet Academy.

Starfleet Academy History

Vanessas main goal was to be in a position in Starfleet where she would be able to help people, she always knew that she could never be a Doctor as she personally knew that she was not cut for it so her decided to put her abilities as a Betazoid to good use and become a counselor. Despite a few set backs, she passed her courses at the academy with flying colours before applying the join the counseling academy to finish her training. She took her final year in training at the counseling academy passing again with flying colures which earned her a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Shortly after finishing the course she requested her first assignment.

Starfleet History

Vanessas first assignment was on the USS Liberty where she worked at first as the chief counselors aide, during this first year she sat in on numerous appointments with the ship's chief counselor which gained her some really good experience. Her opportunity to begin climbing the ladder came early in her second year on the Liberty, when she offically named as the ships second counselor and was promoted to the full rank of Lieutenant. Through the next few years she continued to work well making many friends and earned the respect of the ships chief counselor who recommended her to Starfleet Command for a promotion and for a post all for herself. Word from command came back quickly and Vanessa was surprised to hear that she had been named the Chief Counselor on the USS Pacifica. She transferred to the ship during the year 2378 and settled into her position on the ship quite well. She has made numerous close relationships including a friendship with the Pacifica's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Connie Butterworth. Vanessa's Betazoid abilities first served the Pacifica when she detected the mental presence of an alien race that was onboard the ship, she managed with the assistance of Ensign James to establish a truce with the alien race which helped both the Pacifica and the aliens.
