Sarah Patterson, MD, is a confident and highly capable young physician who serves on the USS Pacifica as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer under Doctor Connie Butterworth. Doctor Patterson has been serving on the USS Pacifica since her graduation from Starfleet's Medical Academy in 2377. She is playful by nature and has a healthy sense of humour that she will often make full use of while tending to her patients. Sarah is almost a chronic work-alcoholic who often puts her own work before her own social life. Her dream is to one day open up her own clinic on one of the Federation’s frontier colonies, but for now she more than content with her home and job on the Pacifica.

While Sarah's current career path is in Starfleet, she one day hopes to open her own practice. She would also like to become the lead physican on a colonising team.

Sarah's interests and hobbies lie primarily in her main field of interest which is medicine. She spends a fair bit of her off duty time studying through various medical texts she also has a keen interest in hydroponics.

History
Pre-Starfleet Academy
Sarah spent her early life around both her parents who worked in one of Tyco City's Hospitals. Being around her parents Sarah quickly grew fond of the medical profession and set her dreams on one day becoming a Doctor herself. it was during her second year of high school when she first set her eyes on joining Star Fleet after listening to a lecture from a Star Fleet Recruitment Officer. With the blessing and support of her parents she submitted her application for the Star Fleet Medical Academy as soon as she had finished her Education.

Sarah's time at the academy passed without and incident or dramas as she passed all of her courses without any trouble. With the good grades that she received at the academy, Sarah was assured of a quality posting in the fleet.
Star Fleet Career
Starfleet Medical (2375 - 2377)
Sarah graduated from the Medical Academy at the end of 2374. Her grades while exceptional put her in the upper midrange of that year's graduating class, which saw her miss out on the more prestigious assignments that were available in the fleet at the time. Sarah's ability and talent didn't go unrecognised though as she was assigned to Starfleet Medical on Earth for her residency. At the time Sarah was disappointed to have missed out on a ship based assignment. She had always dreamed of serving out amongst the stars and had been the main reason behind why she had joined Starfleet in the first place. Despite her initial disappointment Sarah was happy with her assignment as she recognised that it was a rare opportunity to work with and alongside some of the brightest minds in the medical field. It was an opportunity that she intended to grasp hands and she did. After completing her two-year residency Sarah was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and was presented with the opportunity to remain at Starfleet Medical on Earth where she would move into a more senior position with more responsibility. She was tempted to remain on Earth and to build on what she had already started but Sarah's desire and wish to see the ocean of stars led her to seek out a starship based assignment. In 2377 her wishes were fulfilled when she was assigned to the new Sovereign Class starship Pacifica as a junior doctor.
USS Pacifica NCC-72545 (2377 - Current Assignment)
Sarah remained at Starfleet Medical in a temporary role until July of 2377 when she transferred to her new assignment on the Pacifica a week before the starship was due to leave spacedock on it's first mission. The Pacifica was a new experience for Sarah in every way, having come from the mega-large facilities at Starfleet Medical it took Sarah some time to acclimatise to her new and much smaller working environment on the Pacifica.

Initial period on the Pacifica as junior doctor - time to adjust to new smaller working environment - affinity to Pacifica CMO.
Upon the completion of her training, Sarah was assigned to the new Sovereign Class USS Pacifica, where she took up a brief internship before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Following her promotion Sarah slotted into her next role as one of the Pacifica's four medical officer's. She served in this position for two and a half years in which time she continued to develop into a dependable and capable officer and doctor. Her excellent work on the Pacifica was rewarded in 2379 when Sarah was offered the position of Assistant Chief Medical Officer on the Pacifica. Sarah happily accepted the offer and immediately moved into her new position on the Pacifica.
Sarah had little trouble adjusting to her position as she relished the additional responsibilities that came with the Assistant Chief position. She is still actively improving her skills and has even taken a active role with instructing the junior members of the Pacifica’s Medical Department, by 2381 she had earned a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. She is still serving on the Pacifica to this day.
