Starbase 749 is a Presidium Class Starbase currently under construction in the Orpheus System above the Eurydice Colony site. Envisioned as the Federation’s gateway to the Isis Arm construction work first commenced on the facility in 2368, but was postponed until 2377 due to the Dominion War. Today SB-749 is mostly a large floating hulk in space with engineers still working on several large sections of the outer hull. Only two decks on the facility are currently operational, which serve as accommodation and work areas for the base’s various engineering teams. With no defensive systems of its own SB-749 relies heavily on the USS Commonwealth and a small number of orbital weapon platforms for protection.
