Named after the ocean planet of Pacifica the USS Pacifica NCC-32501 was an Excelsior Class refit starship that served the Federation for just over 44 years, it was decommissioned in 2375 following the end of the Dominion War. It was the first Federation Starship to carry the name Pacifica and it logged several first contacts during it's 44 years of service and earned four battle stars during the Border Wars with the Cardassians and during the Dominion War. The next ship to carry the name Pacifica was commissioned two years later in 2377 and is a Sovereign Class starship under the command of Captain Daniel Butterworth.

Ship History
The USS Pacifica was launched from the Beta Antaries Fleet Yards in December of 2331. The Pacifica was commissioned the following year and placed under the command of Captain William Pierce who takes the Pacifica out on it's shakedown cruise that lasts well into 2333. Following the competition of it's shakedown Starfleet Command dispatched Captain Pierce and the Pacifica to the Beta Quadrant for a long term deep space assignment that lasted until 2340. During it's seven year exploration cruise in the Beta Quadrant the Pacifica logged four first contacts and charted numerous new star systems. The ship returned to Earth in 2340 and underwent a major refit at the San Francisco Yards during which time most of the Pacifica's senior staff are reassigned to other posts in the fleet, including Captain Pierce who retired from active service to take up a position with the Federation First Contact Office.
The Pacifica now with the vetern Andorian Captain Viran in command left the San Francisco Yards early in 2341 and was dispatched to the Romulan Neutral Zone for an extended patrol mission. In 2342 the Pacifica began a mapping mission that lasted two years, upon completion of this assignment the Pacifica returned to Federation space and was quickly reassigned to the Cardassian border where tensions were rising between the Federation and Cardassian governments. The Pacifica operated along the Federation Cardassian border on and off for the next ten years and played an important role in the Federation-Cardassian Wars quickly becoming a veteran of the war. Captain Viran retired in 2350 and was replaced by Captain Fiona Makepeace who had just finished a tour in command of the USS Hong Kong.
Under Captain Makepeace's watch the Pacifica continued to operate along the Cardassian border until 2354, when the Pacifica began operating as a multi-purpose vessel in the very heart of the Federation preforming numerous scientific and diplomatic missions. Captain Makepeace stood down from command in 2357 and was replaced by the Pacifica's First Officer Commander Simon Cummings who was promoted to the rank of Captain.
The Pacifica eventually returned to the Beta Antaries Fleet Yard in 2370 for a 6 month refit. Upon completion of the refit in 2371 and with the threat of the Dominion growing the Pacifica was assigned to the Fifth Fleet. The Pacifica operated with the Fifth Fleet from 2371 right through to the end of the Dominion War in 2375. It saw action in both Operation Return and the 1st battle of Chin'toka. Following the end of the Dominion War in 2375 the Pacifica was reassigned to the Romulan Neutral Zone for a four-month patrol. Following it's patrol mission the Pacifica returned to Earth and docked at the Earth Spacedock where it was decommissioned after 44 years of service.

2332 - The Pacifica is fully commissioned and placed under the command of William Pierce. The Pacifica begins shakedown cruise that lasts well in to 2333.
2333-40 - The Pacifica conducts a long-term deep space assignment in the Beta Quadrant
2340 - Upon completion of it's deep space assignment the Pacifica returned to earth for a major upgrade. The majority of the ship's senior crew are reassigned during this time. Captain Pierce retires from Starfleet to take up a position with the First Contact Office.
2341 - With Captain Viran in command the Pacifica leaves spacedock and returns to active service.
2350 - Captain Ciran retires from Starfleet and is replaced by Captain Fiona Makepeace
2357 - Commander Simon Cummings in promoted to the rank of Captain and replaces Fiona Makepeace as the Pacifica's Commanding Officer.
2371 - USS Pacifica is assigned to Starfleet's Fifth Fleet as the threat from the Dominion grows.
2374 - Took part in Operation Return and the first battle of Chin'toka
2375 - At the end of the Dominion War the USS Pacifica patrolled the Romulan Neutral Zone for 4 months before returning to Earth where the ship was decommissioned.
