Introduction

Commodore Tim Ross was a NPC introduced by Luke Evans solely for use in the Pacifica’s First Mission: Aid. Commodore Ross was a rouge Star Fleet Officer who captained the USS Nimitz and was Evans' previous commanding officer before his posting on the USS Pacifica. Ross served as the main villian throughout the Pacifica's first mission.

Background Information

Commodore Tim Ross had a long and respected career in Star Fleet up and til his disappearance at the end of the Dominion War in 2375. Ross first made a name for himself while serving as First Officer on the USS Dunkirk during the Border Wars with the Cardassians in the late 2340’s. His actions while serving on the Dunkirk earned him the Christoper Pike Medal of Valor and in 2352 he was promoted to Captain and took command of the Ambassador Class USS Nimitz.

With the Nimitz tied up in dry dock for an extended refit, Ross took the opportunity to teach a couple of classes at Star Fleet Academy. Whilst at the Academy Ross took notice of a number of promising cadets including one cadet in particular named Luke Evans. Evans has gained himself a reputation at the academy due to the unorthodox approach when it came to solving problems. Ross was so impressed by this cadet that he made it his business to get to know the young man and even went as far as to oversee Evans’ cadet cruise so that he could see him in action first hand. Upon returning to the Nimitz Ross continued to follow the progress of Cadet Evans until his graduation when Ross handpicked Evans to serve on the USS Nimitz. Ross took his new recruit under his wing and once he was certain that he could be trusted briefed him on the Nimitz’s secondary role with Section 31. Evans was reluctant to work under the Section 31 banner, but he nevertheless continued to serve on the Nimitz under Ross and proved himself to be the Star Fleet Officer that Ross knew he would become.

The start of the Dominion War was tough on both Ross and the crew of the Nimitz as their First Officer was killed during the first week of the war. This pushed Ross further towards Section 31, as he was now prepared and willing to do what it took to save the Federation from the Dominion threat. The war also brought about a change in Ross’ Chief of Security Ensign Luke Evans, who had become more open to assisting Section 31 during the war. This lead to Ross promoting Evans, to the rank of Lieutenant and naming him as the [[USS Nimitz}Nimitz’s]] new First Officer. Together they were able to form a strong command team on the Nimitz and were successfully able to see the ship through multiple engagements with the Dominion whilst protecting various Section 31 interests.

In 2375 the Nimitz’s duel secretive role put Ross at odds with Star Fleet Command when he took the ship off of its assigned patrol route to pick up a Section 31 contact. The Nimitz’s deviation from its patrol route lead to a Dominion surprise attack on a Federation Medical convoy, that resulted in the loss of two Starfleet vessels. The attack on the convoy fractured Ross’ relationship with his First Officer who had been adamant that the Nimitz continue on with it’s patrol. Ross’ actions also lead to him being recalled to Deep Space 9 to face a face an official inquiry into his actions, leaving a freshly promoted Lieutenant Commander Luke Evans to temporarily take command of the USS Nimitz. Nothing eventuated from the formal inquiry as Ross’ contacts in Section 31 protected him. He was quickly reinstated to his position on the Nimitz in time to participate in Operation Return.

Events during Aid

When the USS Pacifica encountered the USS Nimitz in mid 2377 Shane Vansan was still serving aboard the Nimitz as one of the ship's senior officers. Vansan met with Commander Luke Evans who was visiting the USS Nimitz at the request of Commodore Tim Ross, and used the opportunity to warn Evans of the Commodore's and Section 31's plan. Realising the situation that they were now facing Evans convinced Vansan to return to the USS Pacifica with him so that they could warn Star Fleet.

Following the Pacifica's escape from the USS Nimitz, Vansan briefed Star Fleet on what she knew about Ross|Ross' plan and requested permission to join the Pacifica's crew. During the Pacifica's next encounter with the USS Nimitz Vansan volunteered to join an away mission led by Commander Evans to disable the USS Nimitz from the inside. The away mission failed to achieve the mission after becoming pinned down in one of the Nimitz’s corridor, the team did however manage to distract the Nimitz long enough for the Pacifica to make temporary repairs. When Commander Evans and Doctor Morgan were abducted from the Pacifica Vansan again offered her assistance to the Pacifica and it’s crew in their attempts to rescue their officers. She was chosen by Captain Butterworth to join the rescue mission that was going to take place with the USS Paris.

During the rescue mission Vansan finally showed her true colours and her loyality to Commodore Ross and the Nimitz. With the rescue mission fully underway and the Nimitz disabled Vansan turned on the Pacifica's crew and took Butterworth hostage, before beaming back across to the Nimitz. It was a move that she hoped would buy the Nimitz precious time to make repairs and escape, but it was all ended when Commander Evans confronted her and Commodore Ross on the bridge of the Nimitz. It was during this confrontation on the bridge that Vansan along with Commodore Ross which lead to the destruction of the USS Nimitz.
