Vice Admiral is a military rank, the equivalent of which is used by the service organizations of many civilizations.
Use in Starfleet
In Starfleet the rank of Vice Admiral is the third flag officer rank, after Rear Admiral and before Admiral. The equivalent rank used by the Starfleet Marine Core is Lieutenant General.
Vice Admirals can command anything from Star Fleet Task Forces all the way to fleets of Starships. They can also command divisions at Starfleet Headquarters, important Starbases, sectors of space and a number of other important positions in the fleet.
