General Overview

A natural leader, Akaris inspires fierce loyalty in those under his command, and is usually the first to ensure that what is necessary gets done. He is very focused on his work, and shows respect to his opponents by never underestimating them. He has little time for polite niceties and even less for lies. Akaris has a dark sense of humour and is well known for his stubborn nature.

As a Starfleet Officer, Akaris is loyal and dedicated to his duties and to those he serves with. On a personal level however, he finds it difficult (if not impossible) to form strong relationships with others.

History

Pre-Starfleet Academy

Born on the 16th of May 2348, Akaris was brought into the world by traditional Bajoran methods. Perhaps the first Human/Bajoran child ever conceived, Akaris had a troubled upbringing. Due to his mixed heritage, he was often the focus of other childrens taunts and amusement. Although he was raised as would be expected for a Human child, Akaris grew up with many Bajoran principles and beliefs.

Starfleet Academy

In the year 2365, Akaris joined the ranks of Starfleet Academy as a Security and Tactical Cadet. Upon his graduation from the Academy, Akaris found his first posting as a Security Officer aboard the Intrepid-class USS Hades, ready to embark on its shakedown cruise.

Starfleet History

Following its commission, Akaris spent a further two years on-board the USS Hades and during that time was promoted to Assistant Chief Security and Tactical Officer along with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. During his second year aboard the USS Hades, Akaris led an away team that managed to recover encrypted data from the wreckage of an unregistered Federation vessel. This information was later discovered to be secret intelligence reports concerning several criminal organisations and their activities within Federation territory. At the request of Starfleet Command, the USS Hades returned the recovered data to Earth.

Akaris was later commended for his efforts in recovering the data, and was asked to join the ranks of GrayMist. After realizing the extent of the many hidden dangers to the safety of the Federation, he accepted the offer. Akaris spent two years at Starfleet's Intelligence Branch, learning the various skills and techniques required to become a successful GrayMist operative.

A "black spot" between the years 2372 and 2378 appears on Akaris' Starfleet record, and is only made available to the highest ranking officers at GrayMist. During this six year period, Akaris was actively involved with field work, both within and beyond Federation borders.

In 2378, Akaris was selected for a Shadow Operation, acting as Chief Security and Tactical Officer aboard the USS Pacifica. Intelligence reports had indicated that the Pacifica's Commanding Officer, Commodore Butterworth, had become the intended target for a pirate group refering to themselves as the [[Jaiyian Pirate Group|"Jaiyians'. With his former Security and Tactical background, Akaris was the obvious choice for the mission. During a routine refit at Deep Space 12, where Jaiyian activity had previously been recorded, an attempt was made by a small cell of terrorists to plant explosives in key areas of the USS Pacifica. Their plans were foiled by the combined efforts of the USS Pacifica's senior staff members. The terrorists were later discovered to have been hired by the Jaiyians and were handed over to GrayMist personnel for interrogation.

Following a two month refit, the Pacifica was redirected to Archerian IV, in the Archerian System. During this mission Akaris received new orders from his superiors at GrayMist and quietly departed for Earth where he was debriefed and given access to new information gained from the terrorists. Akaris spent a few days of leave on Earth with his family but soon received new orders, Commodore Daniel Butterworth had requested that Lieutenant Venn head the Pacifica's new Intelligence Department.
