Pearen IV

Pearen IV is the only currently habitable planet within the Pearen System. It is a Class M world with a mostly tropical climate, it has three large continents and thousands of smaller islands. It’s weather system appears to be extremely active and sometimes severe. At the time of the Pacifica's visit a large hurricane with sustained winds in excess of 220 mph was threatening the largest of the three continents, the eye of the storm was approximately 50 km across.

Ecology

Pearen IV is a world teaming with an abundance of life on many different evolutionary levels, it is a primordial world that in many ways resembles the late cretaceous period on Earth. It's plants ranges from simple algae to large ferns and trees while animal life ranges from simple cell bacteria to primitive sentient reptilian creatures. Sensors recorded twelve different species of land animals that weighed in excess of 50 tons.

The Raptors

Lieutenant Marcus Cesarian discovered a flying raptor like creature approximately 4' tall and very reptilian. When on the ground they stood upright their front legs and had limbs that resembled human arms which end in hands with five fingers one of which is an opposable thumb. Their wings fold up and are almost indistinguishable from the rest of their bodies when not in use. These creatures seem to posses a primitive sentient mind, they adorn themselves with tattoos and primitive jewelery and may have a basic shamanic culture. They appeared to have sense of hierarchal structure and while they were very skittish and afraid of unfamiliar things they were very curious.
